The 2h2o Mounting System (patent pending):

  • Allows for the mounting of two cages for placement of water bottles and/or accessories in the handlebar area of most bicycles
  • Has a pin and slot design that uses linear and rotational adjustments so that mounted items can be optimally placed to maximize knee clearance and handlebar turning radius

  • This system was designed to be enjoyed within moderate riding conditions

Parts for Assembly

  • 1 each Offset Link Mount
  • 2 each Link
  • 2 each Cage Mount
  • 1 each M6 x 50 FHCS
  • 1 each M6 x 20 FHCS
  • 4 each flat washers
  • 2 each M6 x 25 BHCS
  • 2 each M6 nuts
  • 4 each serrated washers

Tools Required for Assembly

Tools must be in very good condition to prevent damage to hardware

  • 4 mm hex wrench
  • 10 mm combination wrench
  • Medium strength thread locker such as Blue Loctite
  • Torque wrench
  • 4mm hex bit

Steps

1) Apply threadlocker to:

  • M6 x 25 BHCS [Item 9]
  • M6 x 20 FHCS [Item 5]
  • M6 x 50 FHCS [Item 6]

2) Preassemble Cage Mount to Link [see Figure 1; Items 2, 3, 4, 7, 8 and 9]

  • Lightly tighten components to allow some movement for final adjustments

3) Install cage or accessory onto Cage Mount

  • Prior to installation make sure there is access for a 4 mm hex wrench (for tightening Item 9 later in process)
  • Cage Mount threads = M5 x .8

4) Remove stem and spacers from steerer tube

5) Insert Link Mount into steerer tube [Item 1]

  • Stack height = 14.2 mm

6) Replace spacers, stem and top cap

7) Realign handlebars

8) Tighten top cap bolt and stem bolts to their respective torques

9) Align Link Mount body parallel to handlebar axis [Figure 2]

10) Install hardware:

  • Note angle limits for Link and Cage Mount [Figure 3]
  • Lightly tighten hardware to allow some movement for final adjustments [Figure 4]
    • Insert M6 x 50 FHCS through Link Mount’s countersink hole and serrated washer
    • Pass FHCS through serrated washer
    • Semi-secure M6 x 50 FHCS on Link Mount through unthreaded post
    • Cages and accessories should be located under the handle bar to allow room for item placement and removal
    • Once desired placement of cage/bottle/accessory has been established, tighten M6 x 50 FHCS and M6 x 25 BHCS to 19Nm
      • Use 10mm combination wrench to keep M6 nut from rotating.

11) Repeat Step 10 for the opposite side of the Link MountUse M6 x 20 FHCS to secure assembly to Link Mount and apply same torque values

12) Check assembly periodically to ensure all components are in good condition
