10 and 12 mm Hangers

General Information

  • We only guarantee hanger/insert compatibility with our dropouts

  • All hangers are supplied with the hardware needed for attachment

  • A replaceable hanger may not save the derailleur when the hanger fails; the goal is to minimize damage to the frame and allow for fast replacement

  • Hangers may be bent from any impact

  • Always carry a spare, and if you hear ANY abnormal noises or shifting from the derailleur, stop and inspect!

Hanger Alignment

Important!

  • Compatibility between components is only guaranteed when using parts made by Paragon Machine Works

  • We cannot advise or make recommendations for parts made by other manufacturers

Anodized Hangers

Materials

  • Most of our hangers are made out of 6061 or 2024 aluminum, these alloys are flexible yet relatively strong:

    • The hanger will bend rather than break and can be bent back into position until a replacement can be installed

    • The hanger will absorb any impact/damage rather than the derailleur which is more expensive and difficult to replace

  • Our aluminum hangers are available bare polished black anodized; certain styles are available in additional colors

  • Long and short hangers made from 1018 steel are available for 10 mm dropouts:

    • Steel hangers should NOT be used for the purpose of withstanding a greater impact; they are strong enough to handle an impact that could bend a bicycle frame

    • Steel hangers are more rigid than our aluminum hangers and are intended for use with higher performance shifting systems, such as the Shimano Di2

Numbering on Our Hangers

Numbering can be found at the top of the hanger near the screw holes.

  • Our current hangers are engraved with a number that indicates the measurement from the axle center to hanger center in millimetres
  • Our older hangers may be engraved with the type of alloy used such as 2024, 6061 or 7075
