PARAGON NEWS
March, 2010

We enjoyed our time at the North American Handmade Bicycle Show (NAHBS) in Richmond, VIRGINIA. It's always great to see our customers, we really appreciate your support and loyalty to our products. Congratulations to all the show winners! We're especially proud that over half the awards went to our customers: Crumpton Cycles, Bilenky Cycle Works, Kent Eriksen Cycles, Kirk Frameworks, Six-Eleven Bicycle Company, Engin Cycles, Di Salvo Custom Cycles, and double winner YiPsan Bicycles.

It seems appropriate to usher in Spring with some new products:

Our newest dropouts are machined from 17/4 stainless steel (DR1044) or 4130 steel (DR2044). They are classically styled dropouts, with the relief on the outside and two M5 x .8 rack or fender eyelets. The chainstay and seatstay tabs are 58 degree included angle for large frames. The tabs are 5 mm thick, the dropout face is 6.5 mm thick (+/- 0.5 mm) and it is chamfered 45 degrees by 1 mm around the outside profile. The center of the axle to the center of the derailleur bolt is 1.180".

We now carry 1018 steel rack lugs with a 5 mm (MS2008) or 6 mm (MS2009) screw hole that are large enough to clear 5 mm or 6 mm screws. The round portion is machined to .300" (7.62 mm) to fit inside 3/8" x .035" tubing, and the lower portion is 11 mm wide x 3 mm thick. They are long enough to be bent to accomodate almost any angle on rack stays.
CNC-CK-1 Lathe

Paragon Machine Works was founded in 1983 in Marin County, California, by owner Mark Norstad, in the basement of his parent's house with one manually operated lathe and mill. It has since grown into a thriving machine shop, occupying a 6,000 square foot building in Richmond, California, and employing seven full-time and three part-time employees. Paragon Machine Works manufactures and stocks the largest variety of titanium bicycle frame building components in the world.

Mark's passion for machine work started in a high school machine shop class. He continued his professional development by completing an Associate of Arts Degree in Machine Metals Technology from College of Marin, California in 1979. Growing up in the mecca of mountain biking and being an avid rider, it was only natural that his first production job was making dropouts for Trailmaster Bikes. Paragon Machine Works is now known for being the premier provider of precision bicycle components. Mark's skills have been refined over the years by completing complex design and manufacturing products for makers of bicycle frames, heavy off-road vehicles, process and alternative energy equipment. He credits his business success to over twenty-five years of manufacturing experience, his passion for metal working and a dedicated and knowledgeable staff.

Paragon Machine Works prides itself on providing personalized service and superior products. We have design development and high volume manufacturing capabilities, offer competitive pricing and guarantee customer satisfaction.
